Happy Easter..well it is now…..
March 17, 2008 — fredsworldIts funny how things work out, after what seemed like forever , your comments seem to be few and far between, it even got to the point when i decided that if no comments arrived today i was going to stop blogging and delete it all..however i got a couple of comments today and my faith in you all has been restored.Thank you.
As it rained nearly all day sunday and all the bootsales were cancelled i decided to get motivated, i painted the dining room chairs i had collected over the past few weeks, not one was more than £2!
and whilst the paint tin was open, the candle stick got painted and the glue gun was whipped out and hey presto!……
i looked around for a nice ornate stick but they seem impossible to find, so i know you shouldnt but emulsion and metal does work.
These eggs are organic free range and have been hand blown by vegans! well thats what the gypsy at the door said, she also said id be a lucky heather, strange when my names Fred! and a bargain at several pieces of silver…well if i never bought them she said she would curse me! …curse me, when im so cursed already, what with the pressure of dieting and Delia starting a new cookery show on how to cheat!…and before you ask, yes i did buy aunt bessies ready mash, i did buy a mini chopper, and yes the salmon in cheese sauce fish pie was fab!…it only took 3 hours start to finish! 90 mins of which was locating the mini chopper…sold out everywhere, it was worse than the free range chicken run.
After popping to the country living spring fair a new cushion, made from a vintage flag appeared here…
why the picture is this size i do not know!!! still im not resizing it now.
Bought this Babuska coffee pot cover today in Oxfam for 99p…
shes guarding the rose pyrex.
Hope you all have a great weekend, feel free to comment, thanks Fred x
P.S all the pics have been taken by my lovely wife Happy, check out her blog at Happy loves Rosie!

I think your candlestick w/teacups looks better than the magazine picture you posted in your previous entry!
I would like to make one too, but too bad I don’t see those kind of candlestick holders in the thrift stores =(
March 17, 2008 at 7:04 pm
Hahaha, this is not the first time I read your blog, but the first time I simply had to give a comment. I know exactly what you mean when you are waiting for people to react and you are thinking: “hey is there anybody out there who likes what I write? Hello world, I still exist!!” So I decided to react right now!! I like all your projects and the Matrushka is great too! Btw it sometimes is very lonely at my blog too (lol). Keep those wonderful posts coming, no reaction does definitely not mean that nobody reads your posts!!!
March 17, 2008 at 7:20 pm
I have only just discovered your blog, so that’s my excuse for not posting a comment. I think you are wonderfully witty, and your color sensibilities are FANTASTIC. Please don’t stop blogging. I think people probably just got busy trying to make some of the delicious, beautiful things you have made, and just haven’t had a chance to come back to your blog yet. Your version of the Marie Claire candlestick is fabulous. I want it and the room it’s in! Just wrap the whole thing up and send it out to California.
Please.

March 17, 2008 at 8:22 pm

LOL Don’t give up so easily!
Love the tea cup candelabra. (How in the hell do you spell that word?) My husband made me a lovely tea cup chandelier, but I don’t have a place to hang it up. Yet. :0)
March 17, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Oh no Fred, please don’t quit blogging! You crack me up and your photos are always pure-eye candy! I love all of the colors and patterns. The tea cup candelabra turned out great!
March 17, 2008 at 8:44 pm
I always laugh at your posts. I love the candelabra! I saw that same magazine and was thinking how great it would be to make one. And the pillow is great…and the chairs…and the coffee pot cover. You always find the best things!
March 17, 2008 at 8:49 pm
I read your posts everytime, except if there is too much text. My english is not that good, so I find it difficult to follow the story…
But the picture’s speek more than 1000 words.
I’m always looking forward to your pictures, so please, please don’t stop blogging…
March 17, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Firstly please don’t worry about the comments we all go through droughts.
Second I really want to do that candelabra for my daughters birthday but like you can’t find an ornate one!
Third I want your babushka cosy!
Fourthly why did I pass up that rose Pyrex set I saw today in the charity shop?I hoep it’s still there tomorrow!!!
March 17, 2008 at 9:47 pm
Hi Fred - don’t give up Blogging my friend! I check your site regularly and love the witty write ups and scrummy pics and wish my grumpy old man would let me go mad a redecorate - fight for it I hear you say, but not worth the agro - so I get my artistic fulfilment from the likes of your lovely Blog! Thank Fred and all other bloggers - Posy is a favourite too! Luv Julie
March 17, 2008 at 10:09 pm
stop blogging !!! oh please, please, never say such horrid a thing. Your blog is awsome.
March 17, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Please don’t stop posting … I haven’t commented before, but I always love looking at your pretty pretty pictures. Such a cute home you have!
March 17, 2008 at 10:33 pm
How could you even THINK such a thing?! We love reading your blog and the pictures, well, they are the cherry on the cake. Can’t wait to see the quilt, but I’ll make do with the pictures of your candelabra in the meantime…
March 17, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Ooop how naughty to view and not post! I think when your blog first loads there is a blank bit at the top and you have to scroll down to find your post… maybe people don’t realise that or have mouse lethargy or something, sure it wasn’t always like that though…. Anyway, I have Rose pyrex bowls but the roses have bubbled…. I think I may have done this catastrophy in the dishwasher?… gasp. Chairs look excellent - great colours. Ummm….. and that’s it.
March 17, 2008 at 11:19 pm
Hi, the candlestick thing worked really well… and how do you find time to paint chairs, make the dining room look lovely, be creative, go to charity shops… phew I’m exhausted just thinking about it! Actually, I am confined to bed this week with a bad back and I agree with you about the comments comment. I thought I might get lots of messages to brighten up my dull, dull week, but only a few faithful friends popped by, oh well, better a few than none!
March 17, 2008 at 11:42 pm
Fred dont you dare stop blogging..you have a cult following ..I got to the top of the clicking ladder and thought I’d better stop or you’d think I was a stalker..only when you left me a message did I return to take a peep..your comment on posy’s blog made me laugh by the way. oh,and yes we are going to rent, mortgages are utter pants in my opinion I’m already hyperventilating at the thought of spending some equity in Cath Kidston …I was going to buy one of those lovely tapestry union-jack-tattoo-pompom cushions from the rug company then I found out they cost £195..each (what the hell does the wall hanging cost then?!) so CK it is.
I think you’ve done a great job with your vintage flag..I love the good old blighty flag!..now I sound like an enid blyton character…jolly hockey sticks and all that..toodle-pip!
March 18, 2008 at 12:00 am
That is what top clicks is isnt it or am I being thick as usual?
and I forgot to say how fab your candelabra looks….I’ll bugger off now.
March 18, 2008 at 12:04 am
God knows what it means..ive had a bottle of red wine, watched most haunted live, now im watching Jerry Springer uncut….i dont feel like im even on earth!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 12:06 am
now I really do look like a stalker (and a thick one at that) as I have just realised you purchased your lovely flag cushion at the spring fair and havent had the sewing machine out!
March 18, 2008 at 12:07 am
Oh, Fred, I love your beautiful collections! I promise that if you post more, I will comment more.
March 18, 2008 at 12:10 am
Prettyshabby, you are cracking me up…just discovered the woman at the country living fairs ebay id is coupe8392….look how many flags she has bought!!!!!!!!!
March 18, 2008 at 1:03 am
Your house makes me feel like a kid in a toyshop - it’s so fantastic, your blog is fab! It feeds my Cath obsession!
March 18, 2008 at 3:52 am
The teacup candleabra looks fantastic, and that Babuska is too much!
March 18, 2008 at 8:54 am
Great glue gun activity! That is one fabulous candelabra!
March 18, 2008 at 9:48 am
If you posted more often you’d get comments more often!!
March 18, 2008 at 10:02 am
Hi Fred, I read a ton of blogs every day. Sometimes I just have nothing to say, not that the subject doesn’t interest me, I just can’t think of a reply!! But I will say I sometimes don’t go back to a blog for a while if they don’t regularly post, after days of clicking on I give up. So here’s the deal - post more regularly say between painting, fish pieing and slurping on the vino and I shall try and comment. That or we could both agree to just sit watching Delia whilst slurping, either way it’s a winner!
March 18, 2008 at 10:06 am
Don’t give up Fred, you’ve a lot of fans out here we’re just lazy about leaving comments! I love your blog, pure eye candy and very inspiring. Wow she has bought a lot of flags, I know what I’m looking out for now, I need a cushion like that on my sofa.
Gill
March 18, 2008 at 12:00 pm
Hi Fred,
I agree with the other commenter. You really have to post more often. You do so much that we all want to see. I really want to make the teacup candleabra. I’ve had a bit of a bump in the road, so I am consigned to the sofa for a couple of days. The babies are fine, just NEEDY!!!! I need to find a bit of motivation today to get some sewing done. I’m on vacation for 2 weeks. Why is it that buying the supplies is so much more fun?
March 18, 2008 at 7:06 pm
I have been lurking around your site for awhile, sorry I havent commented. I love your beautiful home and how great you are at decorating and color!! My home needs a complete redo, can you be rented??? I would love to see what you could do with my mess!!
March 18, 2008 at 7:24 pm
coupe woman must have bought 5 million flags!..now thats just greedy….maybe she is going to make a catsuit out of them to wear about town.
I was going to bid on that last vintage flag, but then I saw Happy was bidding so i didnt! ( I wouldn’t have won it anyway!)
March 19, 2008 at 11:20 am

Hello there,
I was most distressed when you said you might stop blogging, I’m new to this crazy wonderful world and have not got round to doing my own yet and not sure if I will. Anyway I just wanted to say I love your blog and your piccies and ideas etc, after seeing your last post I put my first bid on a pretty teacup on ebay to make the very same candlestick!
I must say (probably like everyone else doe) that we share exactly the same tastes, I love all the vintage enamel, I’m known in my office as the car boot pikey, love it.
Anyway keep up the good work, will comment more often from now on
March 19, 2008 at 4:38 pm

March 19, 2008 at 10:32 pm
Dearest Fred…
I just wanted to let you know that I come a visiting everyday, but rarely do I post. I did want to post during your brief hiatus, but decided not to because I felt like you might be on vacation and not want to come home to hundreds of ‘where the heck have you and your family been?’. So do believe we are out here waiting to see what lovely things you have to show us and what you have to say.
March 20, 2008 at 8:06 am
I understand the comment part…with few comments, you will start to doubt yourself. well, I must say, this is my first time here and I like it already. For me, I usually get no comments and if there is, there will be like one or two only. Anyhow, u got one more fan here so keep at it.
March 20, 2008 at 3:05 pm
